Math skills and prerequisites
What this game practices
- Use hundreds, tens, and ones to compare numbers
- Arrange revealed digits into a three-position number
- Make a placement decision with incomplete information
Explore: Place value & ordering · Logic & deduction
Before playing
- Read digits 0 to 9
- Understand that hundreds have greater value than tens and ones
Getting started
Open Number Maxing from the Arcade and press START GAME. A saved game can resume when you return.
Guests can play; persistent platform coin rewards require a verified account and selected player profile.
How to play
- Press SPIN and wait for the digit to stop changing.
- Click or tap an empty HUNDREDS, TENS, or ONES slot to lock the revealed digit into that place.
- Spin again only after placing the current digit. Locked places cannot be changed within that round.
- Place all three digits and compare your number with the best arrangement. The next round starts automatically.
- Complete all five rounds to see the final table and total score.
- Use PLAY AGAIN after the results, or Restart during play to discard the current game and begin five new rounds.
TRY THE REASONING
Worked example
The value of the tens place
- In an example round, 9 is revealed first and placed in HUNDREDS.
- The next digit is 2 and is placed in ONES.
- The last digit is 4 and is placed in TENS, making 942.
- With those three revealed digits, 942 is the largest arrangement and earns 500 round points. It is greater than 924 because four tens exceed two tens.
Compare places from left to right. During real play, later digits are still unknown when you make each decision.
Scoring, success and round endings
- Each round is scored by how your number ranks among the distinct arrangements of its three digits. The best arrangement earns 500 points; five perfect rounds total 2,500.
- Repeated digits are counted as distinct arrangements only once. If all three digits are identical, the only arrangement earns 500 points.
- A leading zero is allowed; the positions still appear in the round table.
- After all five rounds, an eligible profile earns 100 + floor(total game points ÷ 20) platform coins, up to 225. Individual rounds do not pay coins; Restart does not complete the game.
Modes, settings and progression
Five-round game
Five rounds of three independently revealed digits. There is no difficulty selector or countdown; SPIN's animation is not a decision timer.
Strategies and troubleshooting
- Save a high-value place for a high digit when that seems useful, but remember that the next digit is unknown.
- Do not hurry during the spinning animation; place only the settled digit.
- Use the final table to compare your placement with the best arrangement, including rounds with repeated digits.
- The Sound on/off control is available during play and on the final screen.
Classroom and home use
Suggested activity: Pause after each reveal and ask partners to justify a place before locking it. After the round, arrange the same three digits on paper and compare with the game's best number.
Questions to discuss
- What does this digit contribute in each place?
- Why is 942 greater than 924?
- Was your first decision reasonable with only the first digit known?
This is a teaching suggestion, not an extra mode or a promised learning outcome.
Play and progress
Guest play does not require an account. For shared arcade coin rewards, use a verified account with an active player profile. Game scores and shared coins are different; only confirmed platform awards update the shared balance. Follow each game’s guide for its own restart and resume behavior.
