Find parts that make a whole, including make-ten combinations.
A number bond describes parts and a whole. Making ten is one especially useful case, but a target can also be twelve, twenty, or a changing total.
Choose a fixed-ten game when you specifically want complements to ten. Choose a changing-target game when you want players to recompute the missing part instead of reusing one memorized pair.
How to choose
- Egg PoolIts matching targets are complements that total ten.
- Cascade TheoryPlan swaps that create adjacent straight groups totaling ten.
- Egg ConveyorBuild a carton to its displayed target while visible eggs retain their values.
- Drop 20Work with combinations totaling twenty instead of ten.
A suggested discussion
write a target as two or more parts and compare two valid combinations.
- What is the whole, and which parts do you already have?
- How much is still needed?
- Does this game always use ten, or does its target change?
