Math skills and prerequisites
What this game practices
- Recognize two values that make ten
- Plan a direction of travel and a collision
- Adjust an aim using the cue's new position
Explore: Number bonds & target sums · Addition · Spatial reasoning & planning
Before playing
- Read numbers 1 to 9
- Know or calculate complements to ten
- Use a pointer or touch drag
Getting started
Open Egg Pool from the Arcade. The board begins with six numbered eggs and a neutral cue ball.
Guest play is available. A verified account and selected player profile are needed for persistent platform rewards.
How to play
- Find two numbered eggs whose values add to ten.
- Wait until the balls stop and the board says READY.
- Press on the neutral cue ball and drag backward from the direction you want to shoot. A longer pull gives more power, up to the aiming limit.
- Release to shoot. The neutral cue transfers momentum; the two numbered eggs themselves must collide to clear.
- Wait for the balls to settle, then aim again from wherever the cue has stopped.
- Clear all three pairs to finish. Restart restores this board; New Board creates a different board.
TRY THE REASONING
Worked example
Make four and six meet
- Identify the numbered eggs 4 and 6: 4 + 6 = 10.
- Plan a shot that pushes one of them into the other.
- Pull backward on the cue and release.
- If 4 and 6 collide, they clear. Hitting 4 with the neutral cue alone does not clear either ball.
Recognizing the complement pair gives you the goal; aiming makes the pair meet.
Scoring, success and round endings
- The goal is to clear all three complement pairs. The result records the shots used.
- A completed board earns an eligible profile 200 platform coins. Neither shot count nor elapsed time changes that award.
Modes, settings and progression
Standard board
Three complement pairs totaling ten, including possible 5 + 5 pairs. There is no difficulty selector or shot limit.
Strategies and troubleshooting
- The cue is neutral: it does not contribute a number toward ten.
- Pairs that do not total ten bounce instead of clearing.
- Use a small pull for a nearby collision and inspect where the cue stops before the next shot.
- Restart is useful for trying a different shot on the same layout; New Board changes the layout.
Classroom and home use
Suggested activity: Ask a pair to identify all three complements before shooting. One explains the planned path while the other aims, then they compare the actual collision with the prediction.
Questions to discuss
- What must this value meet to make ten?
- Which ball should move toward the other?
- How did the cue's stopping position change the next shot?
This is a teaching suggestion, not an extra mode or a promised learning outcome.
Play and progress
Guest play does not require an account. For shared arcade coin rewards, use a verified account with an active player profile. Game scores and shared coins are different; only confirmed platform awards update the shared balance. Follow each game’s guide for its own restart and resume behavior.
