FIND THE RIGHT KIND OF PRACTICE

Number patterns

Notice sequences, skip counting, parity and repeated doubling.

Number patterns ask what changes, what stays the same, and which rule links one value to the next. The games here use different rules: skip-counting catches, odd-number choices, and merge sequences.

Read the individual guide before choosing. Ordinary 2048, Tres Huevos and Eggsponential have different movement and merging rules; sharing egg artwork does not make their mathematics interchangeable.

How to choose

  • Egg or Not?Follow the selected counting step when deciding what to catch.
  • Odd SnakesUse the egg values and the game’s numerical rules while steering a snake.
  • 2048Watch equal values merge into doubled values.
  • Tres HuevosCompare its special 1-and-2 combination with later equal-value merges.

A suggested discussion

record a short sequence from play and explain its rule before predicting another term.

  • What rule produced the next value?
  • Where do the rules change?
  • Which games double values, and which use another pattern?

Adapt this suggestion to your learner. It is not an implemented game feature or curriculum standard.

2048 game artwork

Number patterns

2048

Slide numbered eggs across a 4 by 4 board. Combine equal numbers, keep space open, and work toward a 2048 egg.

  • Double equal numbers
  • Predict the result of a whole-board slide
  • Plan several moves while preserving empty spaces

Ready for: Recognize equal numbers

2048 Eggsponential game artwork

Number patterns

2048 Eggsponential

Steer an egg chain around an arena, collect numbered eggs, and let equal values merge. Compare your head's value with rival eggs before approaching.

  • Recognize doubling and halving patterns
  • Compare numerical values before contact
  • Distinguish a highest value from a total

Ready for: Read whole-number values

Egg or Not? game artwork

Number patterns

Egg or Not?

Follow a skip-counting sequence and choose the lane holding its next number. Each run chooses a counting step from your selected tier.

  • Continue sequences by adding a fixed step
  • Connect repeated addition with multiples
  • Track the next term while choosing a lane

Decimals & timing

Egg Timer

Stop a rising decimal counter strictly between two endpoints during a 20-attempt timing session.

  • Compare decimals to one decimal place
  • Identify values inside an open interval
  • Count forward in tenths

Ready for: Read decimals such as 1.2 and 2.8

Eggy Jump game artwork

Multiplication

Eggy Jump

Steer an automatically bouncing egg up numbered platforms. Multiples of the displayed target give a stronger bounce.

  • Recognize target multiples
  • Connect multiplication facts with a landing choice
  • Judge whether a useful platform is reachable

Ready for: Read whole numbers

Odd Snakes game artwork

Number patterns

Odd Snakes

Steer a continuously moving snake toward odd-numbered eggs. Avoid even eggs, boundaries and rival snake bodies while building your score.

  • Distinguish odd and even numbers
  • Classify numbers using the ones digit
  • Add collected values and plan safe routes

Ready for: Read numbers from 1 to 50

Tres Huevos game artwork

Number bonds & target sums

Tres Huevos

Make 3 by joining a 1 and a 2, then combine equal eggs into larger numbers. Each move shifts eggs just one cell.

  • Recognize 1 + 2 = 3
  • Double equal values from 3 onward
  • Plan one-cell moves and incoming eggs

Ready for: Read small whole numbers
