What this game practices

- Classify numbers using the ones digit
- Add collected values and plan safe routes
Explore: Number patterns · Addition · Spatial reasoning & planning
Before playing
- Read numbers from 1 to 50
- Recognize odd and even numbers
Getting started
Open Odd Snakes and select Play. The fixed rule is to catch odd numbers and avoid even numbers.
Customize Snake offers cosmetic colours bought with this game's Points. Those Points are separate from platform coins.
Guests can play. Platform rewards require a verified signed-in account and active player profile.
How to play
- Hold arrow keys or W/A/S/D on desktop. On touchscreens, touch and drag anywhere on the play field; the drag direction steers the snake.
- The snake keeps moving. Read an egg's number before approaching.
- Catch odd eggs to grow and add their value to Score. Ones digits 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9 indicate odd numbers.
- Even eggs end the run. Also avoid the arena boundary, rival snake bodies; leave room for gradual turns.
- After Game Over, review Run Score, Points Earned and Total Points. Choose Play Again or Customize Snake.
TRY THE REASONING
Worked example
Choose an odd egg
- Nearby eggs show 17 and 24.
- 17 ends in 7, so it is odd; 24 ends in 4, so it is even and must be avoided.
- If Score is 13, catching 17 makes 30. Choose a route that does not cross a rival snake body.
Parity identifies the safe egg; addition explains its value; steering determines whether the route is safe.
Scoring, success and round endings
- Score sums the numerical values eaten, not the number of eggs.
- At game over, run score is banked into local Points for cosmetic colours. Green begins unlocked. Colour does not change the odd-number rule.
- Eligible profiles earn floor(final Score / 3) platform coins at natural game over. Coin effects wait until the snake stops.
Modes, settings and progression
Odd-number survival
One rule with computer-controlled snakes; no even-number mode or difficulty selector.
Customize Snake
Unlock or equip cosmetic colours using local game Points.
Strategies and troubleshooting
- Read the number; colour does not indicate odd or even.
- Leave turning space near rival snakes; your snake cannot change direction instantly.
- A lower-value odd egg on a safe route can be better than a larger one in crowded space.
Classroom and home use
Suggested activity: One partner classifies visible eggs while the other steers. Afterwards, explain how two caught values contributed to Score.
Questions to discuss
- How does the last digit show 39 is odd?
- Can two odd values make an even score?
- Why might you pass an odd egg despite its safe number?
This is a teaching suggestion, not an extra mode or a promised learning outcome.
Play and progress
Guest play does not require an account. For shared arcade coin rewards, use a verified account with an active player profile. Game scores and shared coins are different; only confirmed platform awards update the shared balance. Follow each game’s guide for its own restart and resume behavior.
